The 44th edition of the biennial Ryder Cup competition will pit the best male golfers from the United States against the best from Europe in a unique team match play format.
The U.S. squad (27-14-2 overall) will look to defend its title after prevailing in 2021 at Whistling Straits in Haven, Wisconsin − and will attempt to claim the cup on European soil for the first time since 1993 at The Belfry in England.
The event consists of 28 matches (fourball, foresomes and singles) spread out over three days of competition, with a total of 14.5 points needed to claim the championship.
While the U.S. is the defending champion, Europe has won seven of the last 10 Ryder Cup compeitions.
When and where is the 2023 Ryder Cup being played?
This year's Ryder Cup matches will take place September 29-October 1 at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club outside Rome, Italy.
The stadium-style course features rolling fairways, undulating greens and a restored 11th Century castle on 350 acres of Roman countryside.
